On one of the most beautiful days yet, we visited the Reichstag as one of Morag's last "touristy" thing to do. We went through the building only days after a new president was elected and went all the way to the dome.
At sunset, my big camera's battery went down....luckily I was carrying to cameras!
There are 4 towers remaining of the original building two hold the German flag, the other two hold the EU flag. (Wouldn't my dad like this flag business!) Each corner represent a kingdom that was unified by the German Empire: Bavaria, Württemberg, Prussia and Saxony.
The dome is one of the coolest features of the Reichstag. Not only does it look super cool, but it compliments the old architecture with the new, energy efficient building. It acts as a heater and cooler for the building via solar energy and were the people are congregated around the center, one can look down and view the proceedings in the building, such as Angela Merkel giving a speech.
Sunset on the Reichstag was absolutely breathtaking. Thanks to my brother, the camera that I had captured all these beautiful photos!
